Piano Boy

Someone loves music...just like his Momma and Papa!!

It's cute to watch this little guy explore and discover the world.  He's taking in this wonderful world around him and loving every second of it....ok, maybe not every second....  Today I put him up on the piano bench and he thought it was the greatest thing ever - he pounds away and then looks up at me with a big grin that seems to say "Look what I just did Mom!"  I love how when he's sitting up there he crosses his little feet at the ankles or happily swings them forward and back as the excitement flows through his entire body and he can no longer contain himself...I am thinking about starting off our upcoming piano recital with this little maestro

My Ist Snow - Oct 25th

We woke up to snow falling, the 1st snow of the year and Harlow Boys 1st time being out in it :) It was fun to watch him reach to feel it.  He went for the 'Poke' approach...wasn't quite sure of the whole thing.  It was a mushy snow and soon he and I were wet and cold - the end of snow time for the day.
I need to go buy actual snow clothes for him so we can go out sledding without him getting soaking and miserable.

and just think 2 days ago we were taking Autumn Leaf pictures!  Gotta love Utah...1 day of autumn, really?!

Daddy's Planes

We haven't been out flying for a while so when we went out today I was excited to bring Harlow ad see how he'd like Daddy's planes...Harlow was able to watching and follow the plane with his eyes as it flew up in the sky :) it was fun to watch hi watch the plane.  Grandma Ras (Kathy) says he has a 'wise' look about him, I agree, he likes to watch things closely and observe it, you can see him practically analyzing his surrounding.

Our friends, the Arnetts, are getting into the plane hobby too (Scott Arnett is there in the pics with Nathan as Nathan is trying to teach him the ropes)...Scott nose dived the plane his first attempt but did well the other times - I think they've both been a little nervous after that.  It will be fun to have friends in the hobby and we can go out flying together.

Naked Boy

Harlow loves bath time.  Afterwards we go on the bed and get a nice rubdown before the diaper and pjs get strapped on.  We found out that he has baby eczema, the Johnson and Johnson stuff would give him little patches of dry, red skin so we switched to Eucerin (to which I am totally sold)

I love this little naked time with my Harlow Whitley and all the smiles and laughs he gives me!  You could just kiss him all over.  He's growing up so fast, its hard to believe he was ever a tiny newborn at all.  His personality is shining through :) I find myself thinking 'how could I ever love anyone as much as I love my two guys?' and then you know what, some day we'll have another one and none of my love will be depleted, it will only grow and expand, making perfect room for a new little addition to the Andersen family
 *NO, that's not an announcement*

Pumpkins

This year in the garden we grew our own pumpkins!!  It was fun to watch the vine grow and twist and take up half the garden.  As it was only my second year gardening ever I have again found things out that I won't be doing again next year...like planting my pumpkins, spaghetti squash, and butternut squash all right by each other and having smaller plants between them...not such a great idea...oh well, there's always next year.

They are still somewhat green but will orange up with time and will be great jack-o-lanterns this year for Halloween.  We were able to grow 5...we were actually able to grow about 9 but the darn deer came in and helped themselves plentifully to my entire garden this year...don't bring it up...sore subject

Harlow liked picking and transporting them to the front yard with me.  He also loved touching them.  I love watching him discover this amazing world that we live in.  He wants to see everything, put it in his mouth, touch it with his fingers.  Watching him I find new joy in simple tasks and object, sights and sounds.  Having a child is an incredible thing!

8 Months Old

I am 8 months old now!
  • Two days ago I got my first tooth!
  • I am scootching all over the place and keeping mommy on her toes
  • The past few nights I haven't been sleeping through the night and even better I am waking up just wanting to play :) for some reason Mommy doesn't want to play with me at 2 in the morning...wonder why?!
  • I love to talk and make sounds.  My favorite is Dadadada - though I don't know what I am saying, I just love the way it must feel in my mouth.
  • When I get excited to flap my arms wildly up and down.  I really like to do this in the bathtub and don't even mind when I get splashed in the face because of it, that just adds to all my excitement
  • Mommy handed me a stuffed animal (a little bear) and I smiled for the first time.  It was like I finally knew he was a special friend meant just for me
  • I am opening and closing my hands but still don't know that means hello and goodbye.... I just do it for fun
  • I love eating whatever Mommy and Daddy are eating, love my solid baby food, and love to nurse...what can I say, I'm a good eater!
  • Banging stuff is a new favorite activity

See! Look!  I have Hair!
Its just blonde

Morning Walks

It's starting to get cool here in the Utah Valley; I for one am not excited about that...

We get all bundled up every morning and take ourselves out walking.  Our comrades are Jeralyn Morrison (the RS Pres) and her cute dog Nelson.  We enjoy being outside, looking at the beautiful changing leaves, watching the car and trucks rumble past, and chatting away.  It's mighty cold and Harlow's little nose turns red, making him a little Rudolph and kissably cute...with this cold I don't know how much longer we'll be able to take our morning walks, I worry about Harlow getting too nippy, really it's his cute face I worry about...I can't really cover that up and I don't have a shield that goes on my stroller....maybe I'll just have to get creative...

Thanks again to Beth Williams for letting us have her old jogging stroller. Harlow and me both love it!  It's like a full-on recliner for the kid
