Little Sahara Sand dunes

US Synthetic Hosted a weekend trip to the Little Sahara Sand Dunes.  We got there later in the evening and barely got the tent set up before the sun set.  The Lego Movie was projected on a large screen out under the stars and the kids had more candy, popcorn and drinks than they ever could have eaten.  It felt good to get out of the city and just have some fun family time.  In the morning there was a nice hot breakfast and pancakes, eggs, hash browns and bacon provided for us.  We brought Harlow's little strider bike and everyone was talking about how awesome it/he was.

Then it was off to the sand dunes.  Nathan went out for a bit on his dirt bike and I stayed with the boys and played with Harlow in the sand.  Harlow had a blast.  He and some other boys found a stink bug and kept burring it.

I vaguely remember going to the sand dunes as a little girl.  Taking sheets of card board and using them as sleds to ride down the side of the dunes with.  I am grateful my parents went through the efforts to do fun things like that with us as children.  Nathan's family was similar.  They went out to the dunes more often than we did.  Nathan and I want to be like our parents in so many ways, more than just this, but providing fun activities and memories for our children is a major one.

I have never driven a 4wheeler in the sand and was a little nervous.  I was cautious and timid as I started but slowly got braver and braver.  Goodness, it was fun.  I ended up going quite a ways out there when I came to this hill.  I stopped so I could see over the crest at the downhill slop, not bad at all.  But when I went to start the atv up it wouldn't...I let it sit for a bit and tried again, nothing.  I stayed out there for a bit.  No one else was around.  I got my phone out and though I wasn't sure if i had service I sent a text to Nathan.  He called me back for someone else phone.  They sent guys out searching for me.  One of them found me a bit later.  Nathan was going to come meet us but couldn't find us.  Finally I tried to start it again and it fired right up.  Just over heated.  I felt silly to have had such a fuss made over me when I was fine. I am glad Nathan knew I was okay.  He gets pretty worried about me, just in general (that's gotten better the longer we've been married)

The boys had fun and were well behaved.  Nathan and I had a blast switching off playing and watching the boys.  A fun weekend was had by almost all.  There was a girl the ran into a valley ridge on a dune and her tummy ran into her handlebars.  She got some tears in her intestines...scary stuff, glad she's okay now.
